Reliant on donations, Animal Welfare League NSW (AWL) is a dynamic, passionate and high impact not-for-profit, operating to save and improve the lives of companion animals in need.
Annually AWL helps thousands of animals affected by neglect or abandonment, whilst at the same time helping to prevent such things occurring. Working toward positive legislative and regulatory reform through involvement with NSW Animal Welfare Advisory Council (AWAC) and NSW Companion Animals Taskforce, AWL works to improve the overall standard of animal welfare in the state.
AWL helps enforce state legislation with our team of Inspectors who are on the ground everyday protecting animals, providing emergency rescue and enforcing the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.

For the unlucky animals that turn up on our doorstep daily, we welcome them in, providing customized care for every individual. We commit to looking after each animal in our care and do our very best to find them the loving forever homes they deserve.
AWL operates a strong foster care network, three shelters and a veterinary hospital, whilst collaborating with numerous organisations to deliver this tailored approach. Extending our reach in NSW is 12 branches of active volunteers, focused on helping people look after animals in low socio-economic areas.
All pets in our care are vet checked, desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed and flea treated. Pets are also temperament assessed by our qualified Behaviour team, ensuring they go to homes where their people are happy too.
People help support AWL by adopting, donating, volunteering their time, home or expertise.
